HSG spin-off wins award The start-up entrepreneur platform STARTFELD and the St.Gallen Cantonal Bank have awarded the STARTFELD Diamant for the second time. The first prize in this start-up competition was won by the HSG spin-off Cosibon AG. 25 June 2013. Cosibon AG evolved from a research project at the University of St.Gallen. The start-up has developed an app which enables retail customers to access the data which a retailer already has about them as customers, primarily thanks to discount card systems and the way they are evaluated. In this way, consumers are in a better position to reconstruct what they actually spend their money on. Thanks to its integration in social networks, however, the app also benefits the retailers, who are able to organise their marketing in a substantially more efficient manner. Knowledge from the region The first prize of STARTFELD Diamant amounts to CHF 30,000. One of the reasons why Cosibon won the competition was its direct link with the HSG. It is a matter of concern for both the start-up entrepreneur platform STARTFELD and the St.Gallen Cantonal Bank to promote transfer of knowledge from educational institutions in the region into the real economy. Four finalists CHF 5,000 each was awarded to another three start-ups which had made it into the final of STARTFELD Diamant 2013: Box Tango GmbH, which endeavours to facilitate the transfer of goods from road to rail; Timesensor AG, which has developed Mac software for lawyers; and Swossphotovoltaik AG, which produces turn-key solar installations.
